History

Suhe's pastor Rauno Kokkola acted as Dean of the Finnish Interdenominational Bible School, which he founded in 1978. Hundreds of students and thousands of Charismatic conference attendees received his teaching and experienced the work of the Holy Spirit through the school. Toward the end of the 1980s, Rauno and his family went to the United States for a sabbatical. Once there, they found a congregation in Portland, Oregon, with whom to grow. From the first service onward, they knew they had found their home. It was there that the dream of starting a church in Helsinki was born, which was then strengthened and encouraged through friends back in Finland.

The first official church service was 26.8.1990; and right from the beginning, 120 people joined the church. These members came from all sorts of backgrounds and you could feel the excitement in the air. The church began meeting in Tikkurila, then moved to Leppävaara in 1992.

In the spring of 2000, the congregation moved from Leppävaara to downtown Helsinki. It was around this time that more responsibility began to be handed over to the younger generation.
